When a photoshoot on a remote private island called Keleton in Papua New Guinea turns into a proposal!
After an afternoon snorkel in choppy waters with friends, I was too exhausted to do a photoshoot as initially planned. However, both the weather and Markus were convincing enough to make me get ready for it. My sister beautifully captured on video our walk through the forest. The ruins of an over-a-hundred-year old church was needless to say, breathtaking. Vines and roots of trees took over its walls and floors. He then led me to the beach where I spotted from afar some fairy lights on that gorgeous white sand. I thought - What a great photoshoot setup! As we inched closer, I saw mounted on a tree was a long wood plank, engraved on it was our relationship verse. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” - Ephesians 4:2-3. The flowers and lights leading to the heart carved on the sand gave me butterflies. I honestly don't remember much after that, but I do recall responding with "Of course, a thousand times yessssss!" A handful of our friends were on the lookout and turned out to be all part of the secret planning.
I'm super stoked to forever partner with this wonderful man. He is an answered prayer and then some!
